As an employer, what is expected of me?

Internship Academy expects employers to provide a meaningful learning experience in their professional field. Internships are to take place in an office or working environment, not a residence. Employers must conduct interviews with candidates, either in person or by phone. At the end of the internship, employers are asked to complete a one-page evaluation that will be shared with the intern. A letter of recommendation for the intern is requested but not required.

What is the time commitment?

Internships usually last 8-12 weeks with an average of 15 hours per week; however, each internship can be tailored to meet your specific needs.

Why are most of the internships unpaid?

At Internship Academy, we believe that an internship should pay dividends that amount to more than $10 per hour. Our focus is on creating internships that provide interns with real-world experience and key contacts in their chosen field. We don’t want our interns to complete an internship and feel like they gained nothing more than a few hundred dollars and no relevant real-world experience. Instead, we seek to provide interns with a learning experience that will propel their career forward. In addition, unpaid internships often lead to paid positions, both for students and career changers.

Can I get course credit by doing an internship through Internship Academy?

Yes. Course credit will need to be arranged between you and your school. We will work within your school’s requirements for credit if you wish to receive course credit.

How does Internship Academy’s tuition fee compare to other internship programs?

There are other internship programs that charge thousands of dollars for unpaid pre-established internships that are one-size-fits-all. Other programs that are almost double Internship Academy’s tuition fee provide research services to find published internships, whereas, Internship Academy works with partnering companies to create custom internships that are uniquely designed for each individual intern.

What do I receive for the $650 tuition fee that I do not already receive from a career center or outplacement service?

Internship Academy does not provide the same internships that are advertised through career centers or on the web. We will work with you individually to design a custom internship that will be best suited for your strengths, goals, interests and schedule. We will also provide you with one-on-one career coaching, resume and cover letter writing assistance, interview coaching and training in prospecting.
