It is freezing cold with ice storms predicted for much of the south over the coming weekend, so why am I already thinking spring?  Here in the office we are preparing for the annual round of career and internship fairs on college campuses, prospective applicants need to be thinking and preparing also.  With most campuses finishing before the middle of May "spring" comes early for those seeking an internship or possible job.

Now is the time to work on your resume, 30 second elevator pitch, and interview image, yes even if you are a few years away from graduation. What exactly are you thinking your classes will prepare you for in the work world?  Maybe before you become too invested in that major you should think about an internship in that area.   Even if you have only a month to six weeks to spend in an internship this summer the experience will be invaluable in helping you decide if the path you're on is the right one for you.  Keep an open mind as to the size of company and whether the position is paid or unpaid.  The key is the experience and the contacts you can make while in that internship.

If you have had an internship log on and tell me about your experience.  Is there anything you would have liked to know ahead of time to prepare you?  What advice would you give to someone looking for an internship?
